FREDERICTON, N.B. — The New Brunswick government is strengthening its ties with Ivory Coast through the signing of two bilateral agreements.

During a recent delegation to Ivory Coast and Morocco, Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Bill Hogan met with the local officials to sign the agreements.

The first one, aimed at fostering economic relations and facilitating labour mobility between the two regions, will introduce initiatives for training, skills development and the recognition of professional qualifications to help integrate Ivory Coast workers into New Brunswick's job market.

The second agreement, which focuses on collaboration in K-12 education, will see the two regions share pedagogical practices and launch innovative projects to help both parties.

The delegation included representatives from post-secondary education, labour and training, intergovernmental affairs, Université de Moncton and the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick.

“These bilateral agreements between New Brunswick and Ivory Coast are focused, mutually beneficial agreements, providing training and opportunities to francophone workers to participate in both economies,” said Hogan.

“Some of the benefits to New Brunswick see more international students attending our post-secondary institutions, including more than 350 Ivory Coast students at Université de Moncton and Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick.”
