NFL Draft 2024

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Two more former Wildcats achieved their dreams of going pro.

Wide receiver Jacob Cowing and tight end Tanner McLachlan were selected on Day 3 of the NFL Draft.

Receiver Jacob Cowing was selected 135th overall by the 49ers, while McLachlan was drafted 194th overall by the Bengals.

Cowing was drafted by the 49ers in the 4th round with the 135th overall picked. McLachlan heard his name called in the 6th round, going to the Bengals at 194th overall.

Cowing is the highest selected U of A receiver since Mike Thomas in 2009. The slot receiver holds the program record in single-season receiving touchdowns with 13. He was also named Alamo Bowl Offensive MVP.

McLachlan is the first Arizona tight end selected since Rob Gronkowski in 2010. His 79 career receptions broke Gronk's record.

Cowing and McLachlan join Jordan Morgan, who was drafted 25th overall by the Packers on day one. It's the first time Arizona has had three picks in the same draft since 2014.

Defensive Lineman Tyler Manoa signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent. EDGE Taylor Upshaw did the same with the Panthers.
