November 18, 2013, 11:40

As part of joint activities of Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol and the Vernadsky Nongovernmental Environmental Fund, thematic lessons on the life and scientific work of Academician Vernadsky were held in 29 educational institutions of the North Caucasian region.

Open environmental lessons were dedicated to Vernadsky’s 150th anniversary and the Year of Ecology in Gazprom. They took place in public educational institutions and children’s environmental centers of the Stavropol Territory, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania as well as the Astrakhan and Rostov Regions. Over 700 schoolchildren got acquainted with the milestones of the great Russian scientist’s life as well as the main aspects of his scientific heritage.

Each lesson featured a presentation prepared by the Fund employees and contributed to fostering environmental consciousness and forming a world view of a modern person.

“Planting love and environmental friendliness in children and getting them interested in environmental problems is one of the main tasks of modern education,” said Alexey Zavgorodnev, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol. “That is why gas workers organize different environmental campaigns so often, arrange tours to the company’s production facilities as well as contests and thematic lessons.”
