UK foresees increased trade with Angola

Luanda, ANGOLA, July 26 - United Kingdom will support the development of national economy and increase trade with Angola. The turnover between the two countries reached USD 900 million in 2017. ,

 

 

The information was released Thursday in Luanda by UK Ambassador to Angola, Jessica Hand.

 

Speaking at the end of a meeting with Angolan Parliament Speaker, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, the diplomat described the relations between the two states, with stress to the oil sector, as excellent.

 

Jessica Hand also expressed her country's intention to extend bilateral cooperation to other areas such as renewable energy, agriculture, construction and infrastructure, as well as support the democratic process in Angola.

 

The British diplomat also expressed optimism about the ongoing economic reform process in the country.

 

The ambassador praised the country's commitment to open its economy and creation of conditions to encourage foreign investment, especially from the UK.

 

The pair also discussed the issue related to the exchange that the two Parliamentary institutions from both countries need to launch in the near future, under the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the British Foundation for development of democracy.

 

Jessica Hand, former head of arms export policy for her country, is also a UK non-resident ambassador to Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe.
