Today in Banja Luka, the Minister of Energy and Mining of the Republika Srpska, Petar Đokić, and the Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, Artur Lorkowski, held a meeting to discuss ongoing support and collaboration in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s energy sector. The discussions centered around the obligations from the Energy Community Treaty that Republika Srpska is implementing within its jurisdiction.

Minister Đokić emphasized that all key institutions in Republika Srpska are fully committed to achieving the established goals and have understanding of demands of European policies and the obligations arising from the Energy Community Treaty.

Artur Lorkowski, the Director of Energy Community Secretariat, expressed Secretariat’s readiness to support Bosnia and Herzegovina on its journey to transposing EU legislation into domestic laws and fulfilling the obligations deriving from the Energy Community Treaty, upon internal coordination process. 

The Energy Community Secretariat’s role in the HPP Buk Bijela cross-border dialogue group was highlighted. Minister Đokić reiterated Republika Sprska’s commitment to conducting a new Environmental Impact Assessment for the project.

The participants also discussed the upcoming Energy Community’s Informal Ministerial meeting, which will be held tomorrow in Banja Luka under the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Energy Community Presidency.

Both parties agreed to continue the close cooperation and engagement in supporting the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s journey towards integration into the European energy market.
